Yosemite visitors are very expensive. But then, almost nothing, apart from San Francisco is expensive. Although not as much choice in the matter, as most tourists (and back) of the city.
Do not think that is 1-day bus tour ($ 115) makes sense, since it receives only about 2 hours free time in the park. The 1st train ride Days ($ 140) is slightly better ... gives a more comfortable ride and more or less than 3 hours.
However, private vans and overnight trips ($ 200 +) are the right way. Activities Yosemite is so big and athletic are so many that really do a day to justice.

For a trip easier and cheaper, I suggest, Muir Woods, Wine Country, Santa Cruz or in their place.

I just want to rent a car and himself. Not too difficult and it takes about 3 hours. If you go early ready, for example 6 hours of low traffic and parked and before 10 clock. Therefore cheaper, just a free shuttle bus to the city and where you want to see. If the trip one day, trying to leave 5pm. Darkens quickly.
If you want to hike and see Glacier Point or large trees. Get a room or a house for a night. I stayed at the shelter, tents, booths and regular cab. All were comfortable, and sometimes similar offers $ 59 per night have. Stars of Yosemite are amazing at night. It is interesting night. Even if it's not snowing, you can rent a limousine. You do not need a tour, the valley is eloquent.
If you stay over night to go to Glacier Point. If you are a serious hiker, do 11 miles, which essentially panorama. Unfortunately, it is not 100% down. But always with three impressive waterfalls, with Half Dome in his vision.
Gray Line Tours offers day tours in the valley. If you're single, it would be a better way to travel because there is no daily limit for vehicles entering the park.

Yosemite is worth the trouble, like no other place on earth.
